Skin Needling (Collagen Induction Therapy)

What is Skin Needling?

Skin Needling is not as scary and painful as it sounds, rest assured the treatment is pain free with minimal discomfort. The needles create tiny micro-cavities in the skin's surface. This stimulates the regenerative processes that naturally take place in the skin everyday. This, in turn, stimulates an increased production of collagen and elastin causing the skin to become firmer, for scars to gradually reduce and for wrinkles to smooth out. We treat the face, neck, neckline, stomach, thighs and buttocks. The needle depth is customised based on skin concern and area of treatment.

 FAQs

  • Microneedling works by penetrating the upper layers of your skin to create deliberate trauma and micro-wounds. These wounds trigger a healing response from the body, which responds by producing collagen and elastin fibers. Over time, the skin becomes rejuvenated and reduces the appearance of fine lines, scarring, hyperpigmentation, loose skin and will brighten and improve your overall texture and tone.

  • Microneedling can treat a range of conditions, with some of the most common including; mild to moderate acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, uneven skin tone (hyperpigmentation), uneven skin texture, dullness and stretch marks.

  • Needles create deliberate micro-trauma to the skin, which will cause some redness (known as erythema) and in some cases, small amounts of needle-point bleeding (known as petechiae). Microneedling can show instant bruising in some areas, including the cheek bones, forehead and eye area. Some areas are also more sensitive than others, including the forehead, lip area and tip of the nose. If you have taken fish oil supplements, aspirin, anti-inflammatories or had any alcohol within 3 days of your treatment, you may experience more bleeding than usual due to the blood-thinning properties of these substances.

You will experience some redness, tightness and mild swelling for 24-48 hours post-treatment. It's also normal to see small pinpoint bleeding and mild bruising.

After a few days your skin will be a little dry and flakey, which will gradually disappear within one week.

  • Microneedling can safely be performed every 4-6 weeks. For collagen induction you may require at least 3 treatments.

Scar reduction generally requires between 3 and 6 treatments.

As a general rule, 4-6 weeks should pass between one treatment and the next.

  • The needles are made of high quality surgical stainless steel and titanium.

  • It’s advisable to stop using any Vitamin A/Retinol type creams 3-5 days before use to prevent irritation. It’s also best if you avoid fish oil or any anti-inflammatory tablets 3-5 days before as well as this increases your risk of bleeding.

  • To ensure the proper healing, please following the information below.

Do not use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acid, Retinol (Vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula) or anything perceived as ‘active’ skincare for at least 7 days post-treatment.

Avoid extended periods in the sun and apply an SPF when you leave the house

Do not go swimming for at least 24 hours post-treatment.

No exercising or strenuous activity for the first 24 hours post-treatment. Sweating and gym environments are harmful, rife with bacteria, and may cause adverse reactions
