Sun Spot Removal

Sun spots are also known as age spots, liver spots, lentigos, or lentigines. They are common and caused from excessive sun exposure. Unlike freckles, sun spots are larger as they tend to clump together, which appear as one big dark spot on the skin. There are many different treatments for removing sun spots, Peels and melanocyte inhibitors.

Characteristics

Sun spots are also known as age spots, liver spots, lentigos, or lentigines. These macular lesions are flat, tan, brown, or dark brown spots on sun-exposed skin. As people age, sun spots most commonly appear on the backs of the hands, the forearms, neck, chest, and face. Sun spots are associated with sun exposure. The melanocytes in the skin are stimulated to over produce melanin when under stress due to ultraviolet rays. Melanin is then deposited into the dermal layer of our skin in uneven patches of pigment.
